15 Romantic Prom Ideas and Tips

19 Apr

Prom is a very romantic night for everyone. The music, lights, dancing, dresses. Make sure it’s the best night.

1. Give her a single, long-stemmed rose. (For more tips on roses: https://romanticideasinlife.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/how-roses-talk-meanings-of-roses/)

2. Sweep her off her feet and surprise her! Carry her from her house to the limo or from the limo to the prom.

3. Show up with a box of chocolates and/or a cute stuffed animal for her.

4. While dancing, lean down really far with her in your arms and kiss her deeply. (Like in the picture of the sailor and the nurse after WWII.)

5. Before prom set up Christmas lights in a romantic spot (forest, field, barn, gazebo, beach, ect) or candles (beach, living room, ect) and tell your date that you just can’t let her go yet and have to have one more dance with only her.

6. Impress her with some romantic Italian! (https://romanticideasinlife.wordpress.com/2011/03/07/romantic-italian-phrases/)

7. Instead of a rose, find out what your date’s favorite flower is and give her one.

8. Strew rose petals across the floor or sidewalk. (Or cherry/pear/peach/plum blossoms.)

9. While dancing, pick her up and spin her around in your arms.

10. Serenade her! If you know how to play an instrument, play a song for her (bonus points if you write a song just for her), sing to her, or if you can’t do any of these, play a song that means a lot to you two or makes you think of her. Then tell her why she’s so special to you.

11. While you’re in your finest, go to a beautiful, scenic spot and get pictures together. Then surprise your date by picking your favorite and giving it to them in a beautiful frame so they can always remember the special night.

12. Request for the DJ to play your song.

13. If your girl is wearing red, request for “Lady in Red.”

14. Give her a beautiful necklace/earings/ring/bracelet for her to wear.

15. Memorize a romantic poem and read it to her. (Bonus points if you wrote it yourself and specifically for her.)

Date of the Day: Dim the lights (throw a sheer red cloth over your lamps to create mood lighting.) After a romantic dinner turn on some romantic music and dance slowly together to the music, holding your lover close. Gift of the Day: A lovely box of chocolate. Cream filled chocolates, cherry cordials, caramels, whatever her tastes are.

Quote of the Day:

A hundred hearts would be too few
To carry all my love for you.
~Author Unknown

Tip of the Day: Turn out all the lights and declare a black out…no TV, no distractions just candles and your honey.

Video of the Day:

Old video removed from Youtube. Replaced.

Love letter of the Day:

Journey of Love

To My Dearest Love, Jennifer

Everyday that passes

I feel that I love you more

I feel thankful for the times we spend together

I know and feel that you are my perfect companion

And friend

And I’d choose you again…

And again…

And again!

Naturally we have difficult moments

But I would not give up even these

Because it’s a part of the Journey of love

That we’ve been on

I want to travel by your side…

Forever

Because I Love You

Love you forever and always,

Jonathan

Poem of the Day:

Valentine’s a day to say, “I love you,”
A ritual that stages something real,
Letting out the truth of what I feel
Even as I think it often of you.
Nor could I with such grace without this day
Tell you that I’m grateful that I have you,
Impress upon you just how much I need you,
Needing such a frame for what I say
Even as I would my heart reveal.

Valentine’s Day Story:

I had only been dating my boyfriend for about two months by Valentine’s Day, so I wasn’t expecting much. I would have been happy just spending time with him, watching a movie in his living room, cuddling on the couch like we usually did. What I didn’t expect was the evening he had in store for me.
My boyfriend had told me the day before that he was going to make dinner for us at 6:30pm, and that we were going to watch one of my favorite movies afterward. I was upset when he called at 6pm to tell me that there was a change in plans and I wasn’t going to be able to come over. I started to complain, and ask him why he was changing the plans, but he told me not to worry, and that he would explain everything when he came over later.
I was confused by the change, and mad that he wouldn’t tell me right away what the reasoning behind it was, but I waited for him, hoping nothing had gone wrong for him at home.
I heard a knock on my door at around 7:30pm, and so I went to the door, ready for an explanation of the what had been happening that evening. When I opened the door, however, I forgot just about everything I was angry about because I was taken aback by the image in my doorway.
He had on a pair of cute jeans, a fitted dark green t-shirt (one of my favorites, as it accentuated his good physique), and a black suit jacket. I normally thought he looked good, but that day he looked more like a model than the boy I was used to. When our eyes met, he smiled broadly, and said, “Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetie,” while he took a beautiful orange rose from behind his back.
He walked me to his car, but before he opened the door for me, he had me put on a blindfold. I was very confused, but did as he asked, and he helped me into the car. The car ride wasn’t too long, but the best part was the music he played. He had made a mixed cd of some of my favorite songs, and every time I’d ask where we were going, he said not to worry about it, and to just listen to the music.
After a while, the car stopped, and he helped me out, still blindfolded. He took my arm, told me we were almost there and lead me forward. We stopped, and he walked behind me, putting both hands on my shoulders. “Are you ready?” he asked. I didn’t know how to respond, so I just nodded. He took off my blindfold, and in front of me stood a beautiful carriage with two white horses tied to it. There was a friendly looking older man sitting in the driver’s seat, and a blanket in the back.
We rode around the park for about half an hour, just cuddling in the back of the carriage, his arm around my shoulder, his other hand holding mine. I spent most of the time with my head down, looking at my rose and listening to his heart, but when I looked up, he would give me the most beautiful smile.
The night had already been great, but it was topped of with him telling me he was the luckiest guy alive and giving me the best kiss of my life.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
